Robert Turner 1871-1959

Robert Turner was born on January 31, 1871, in Pudsey, Yorkshire, England, his father, Moses, was 43 and his mother, Sarah, was 38. In 1893 he immigrated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Robert worked as a cashier at a bank. He lived with my 2 great grandfather and also his brother Jotham Turner until 1907 when he purchased a house in East Oak Lane, Philadelphia. In 1909 his wealthy Uncle Edwin Harrison died and bequeathed $40,000 dollars to Robert. That is equivelant to over one million in today's market.

He married Edith Fulton Rink in 1911 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He became the president of the Mechanics National Bank in Burlington New Jersey. They had one child Barbara Ann during their marriage.In 1930 while Barbara was studying at Cornell University her mother Edith died. She later married Charles Mead Jr. Robert took to running the bank and started to travel frequently to England and abroad. He died on August 25, 1959, in Burlington, New Jersey, at the age of 88.
