Edward Birdsall and his twin brother William were born in late 1830 in Yeadon, Yorkshire, England, their father, Joseph, was 29, and their mother, Mary, was 25. He married Martha Ingleson on November 26, 1855, in his hometown. They had six children in 14 years. He would be a farmer for many years and would see a few of his children make the move to the United States. He died on March 6, 1890, in Yeadon, Yorkshire, England, at the age of 60. Edward's estate value was the equivalent of 80K pounds($100k USD). The Birdsall family was still a known family name in 1970 as shown by a index of wills from Yeadon.
