Thomas McKay 1859-1951

Thomas McKay born January 9th, 1859. I found that he lived his entire life in the Olde Kensington section of Philadelphia. Mainly at 1519 N Front street for almost a half a century. His father originally from Ireland immigrated in 1844 and lived in the same home. Thomas would later turn the house over to his Daughter Anna and her Husband Russell Lucke.
Thomas had married my cousin Margaret Wenzell Rowen back in 1898 and the would have three children John Rowen McKay, Anna and Margaret. Margaret would die from a kidney disease in 1929 at age 55.
Thomas was an inspector for the city throughout his career and his daughters worked in the textile mills in the area.
After Anna McKay married Russell, she would join him in his floral business along with two sons Russell Jr and Vernon.
John Rowen McKay would go to work for the railroad and later and then then later as a fireman in 1940. John's son John Jr. would enlist in the Navy and serve on the USS Iowa, a battleship that campaigned in the Pacific during WWII.
Thomas would live to be 92. He died on the 23rd of January 1951.
